How to get rich – Move to the USA!

Posted by admin on 23 May, 2009 under Business advice, Success Stories in business | 15 Comments to Read

I was looking at writing an article about the worlds riches people and noticed that of the “Top 20 Richest” – 10 were in North America!

So looking at a simple probability you are 50% more likely to become seriously rich if you live in the USA. Three of these 10 American billionaires are in the top 4 and between them are worth almost $100 billion (£63 billion), with Bill Gates worth $40 billion (£25 billion) on his own!

Gates is a Harvard University drop out and was born in 1955 to a middle class family with no silver spoon in his mouth and armed only with his intelligence and personal drive.

The Story of Bill Gates – a Rich Man

The second richest man in the world is Warren Buffett born a few years earlier than Bill Gates in 1930 – so a more senior billionaire worth some $37 billion (£23 billion). Becoming a millionaire in the early days back in 1962 is when he first became a millionaire through a number of partnerships, which in January 1962, had in excess of $7,178,500, of which over $1,025,000 belonged to Buffett.

Mr Buffett then discovered a textile manufacturing firm, Berkshire Hathaway which he began to buy via his partnerships at $7.60 per share. In 1965, when Buffett’s partnerships aggressively began purchasing Berkshire, they paid $14.86 per share while the company had working capital (current assets minus current liabilities) of $19 per share – this set the scene with him in how he was to go on and make his fortunes through business investment.

How to Build a Business Warren Buffett Would Buy: The R. C. Willey Story

I thought that this was a good video of looking at how you could think about making your own money and maybe in the future either Warren Buffett or his successor may invest in your newly found business!

I did a bit of looking at what people search on the Internet relating to “How to get rich” and top of this list is “how to get rich quick” and following in quick succession is “how to get married to a rich man” – interesting. People seem to want to get rich fast or by marrying into money without having to do the hard work and on the whole this really does not happen.

There is always a little bit of luck along the way and one could argue that Bill Gates got lucky with some of his first business deals, but I think that he would have made it either way, one way or another. I always like to see luck as when “Opportunity meets preparation” – you might be thinking others are luckier than you, but if you had prepared yourself you might start to notice opportunities all around you!

Huh! Great article, but I am not sure about USA in coming years. North Europe or even China will be much better choice in close future.

Yes you might well be right in this – it is going to take some doing though to over take the American entrepreneurs and their success!

I also agree. Looks like US is an exhausted society. They need to change something soon as possible. There are many theories about dark future of US and new Civil war which result will be several independent states such as California, Texas etc. Maybe you know that Chuck Norris want to be president of independent Texas. With him as leader it is obvious that Texas will be next Top power in Universum :)

To become rich, you just have to have good idea and good internet connection. Today it is not so important where do you live (of course, I have in minds “normal” countries, not Afghanistan and similar).

The story about Bill Gates is amaising. To drop out Harvard university is unbelivable for me!? I don’t have money for Harvard, but I have some ideas. USA here I comes!!

I think national borders will become less important as the internet becomes the place to earn money.

What a stupid title: “How to get rich – Move to the USA!” These days you can get rich practically anywhere. And with the event of the Internet everybody’s got a chance no matter where they live. Right? Surely… the good old “USA” doesn’t hold the rights to getting rich!!

The USA does have some remarkable success stories but you first need the capitol to get there… and what about immigration and visas!!

  • Michael said,

Whatever it looks like, the US is and will always be a very rich place and as everywhere in the planet it has its good and bad sides. Uk is fantastic, Switzerland is great, US I like it personally, Germany I love it, Greece (on where I am from) is ok…. but indeed you can end up rich and poor everywhere. It’s all a matter of luck and of course personal choice, expectations…You can’t say for example, I will move to Stockholm expecting to have a great sunshine…

Fortunately US is not the only place to become rich and this is good because you have more options now to move wherever your heart desires. But US will always be a good place for career, especially for artists like me…

As for Billy… well, Macintosh has doubled its profit this year…

Wrong it does. Thousand of success stories.

The visa service is another story. All you gotta do is 1)to find somebody to sponsor you 2)go there as a tourist for 90 days and look for a job, 3)Be a student (Master or PHD) and then the University can get you a job which means you are secured 4)Apply for jobs before you go there.

It is not very easy but not impossible.

A friend of mine got a job as a doctor in a University. He got a doctor visa via exams. There are different bonuses depending of the profession.

You can actually go to Switzerland. It is a fantastic country and the people are very polite also. I think the US is very overrated without meaning it is not a good place to get a successful career. It is just not the only.

The ultra-rich for the most part create their own luck. Like you said, Gates probably would have got there anyway eventually. Maybe not on that sacale, but probably to a billion anyway. I have always found that whenever I was working harder, I was usually luckier as well.

This USA getting rich profile is being blown way out of line. Americans do live in a great country but there are still poverty problems here. It’s not as easy as most would think to become rich in the USA. There are many loop holes that are taken to become rich in America,if your willing to get down into the mudd and wallo like a pig. It’s a dog eat dog world even in America.

  • Chris said,

There are plenty of rich people in other countries. The US is probably the EASIEST to get rich but it’s obviously not impossible anywhere else.

Thanks for writing such a great articles, Bill Gate is a great man.
