The single words I’d use to describe your behaviour of spending more than you make, have or earn might be profligate, which means you’re being recklessly extravagant or wasteful in the use of resources. Other single words to describe this behaviour might include reckless or foolhardy. But to use two words as a description, this is simple and can be described as Over-Spending.

Spending more than you make word or words

I spent a short while thinking about a single word to describe your action of spending more than you make or earn or have. Two words are easy to find, which is simply Over-Spending. However, a word that could be used is profligate. Which means you’ be recklessly extravagant or wasteful in the use of resources. Other single words might include reckless or foolhardy.

I could be frank with you and use a word you may not like. This one word to describe your behaviour is foolish. However, there may be circumstances you have that has made the situation as it is. It’s possible that the reasons for your current situation are outside of your control.

However, if you’re spending more money than you have or earn, which is simply because your spending is out of control, then this could well be described as foolish. Sorry to be harsh with you, but sometimes it’s necessary.

But the question remains; is this your fault? In my opinion, yes it is your fault. But if you have the ‘wrongmindset (i.e. you have bad habits as a result of what you’ve learnt from others; normally your parents), this may not actually be your fault as such.

However, having said that, it’s definitely your fault if you continue to do nothing about the problem. But I’d like to think by the very fact you are reading this article, you intend to fix your mindset problem.
